The 41-hour ordeal

_
Ever wondered how it would be like to be trapped in an
ELEVATOR for a very long time?

How would it feel like? What would you do!?
Your answer right below...

Nicholas White was working late on one Friday night, when he went for his longest cigarette break ever. He was returning to his office on the 39th floor when the elevator stopped between floors. With the building deserted and rescue 41 hours away

He had no watch, no cell phone, no food or water.

You could see maintenance workers fixing various stuff on the other cars but none on car No. 30 that he was in.

Watching the video, i don't think any of us can imagine being put in his position... EVER. Being quite claustrophobic, I'd certainly die either from insanity or the overdose of extreme claustrophobia waaayyy before dehydration even sets in!

Btw, he still takes elevators... "Living in Manhattan I'd be seriously limiting my life if I didn't take elevators," he said. LOL

Lost phone, returned.

No, not mine unfortunately. Found a handphone (RAZR V3) in one of the restaurants I was in at One Utama today. Fortunately for that lady, she lost her handphone to me, and not to others (especially the one who STOLE MINE $^%&#*!).

So, kept it on… she called me while I was in college, and wanted my address so she could come and pick it up. She was supposed to come at night, but I, being such the uber gentleman that I am, told her to meet at One Utama after my college. She couldn’t come, got her friend to take it.

Mr: Hey, I work for Isabelle’s husband, he’s my boss.

*shoke hands and talked a lil*

Me: Oh ok, here's the phone… *big smiley*

Mr: Thanks, so how much do I pay you?

Me: Depends how big your wallet is, but RM350 will do just fine.
OH NOLAH, it’s ok… *bigger smiley*

Mr: Ok, you’re a nice guy… *nodding head & eyes piercing thru me*
Really nice guy...

*we talked a lil then went our separate ways*

words of genuine gratitude... that was sufficient =)

Who knew doing good deeds took some amount of effort, maybe that’s why people prefer not to do it (plus the added fact that you get a free handphone). But, it’s definitely a joy to do the “right thing” and seeing that priceless smile.

Ahhh… Ethic of reciprocity:

Do unto others as you would
have them do unto you

PS: Karma, take note please hehe.

The Water Horse

Steph: I’m gonna cry!

Me: …Y E A H!

*steph hands me a tissue* lol

I have no idea why, it was just so weird tearing over a kid’s movie! This movie started out with no surprise, your average, basic message sent out through a fairy tale but with very nice CGI. It started slow with little climaxes or anything to really grasp. BUT somehow… somehow, “magically” we and the magical Crusoe were one! =D Towards the ending, it/we started getting emotional as Crusoe was trying to escape from those really really bad bad army man who want to hurt lil Crusoe… someone shut me up already.

Okay, this is just all wrong. Just…

Maybe I should just delete this post lol. It’s definitely those freaking college stresses where you just gotta let go! So here I am doing it!

Hears a who?

Okay, this movie never interests me and I wasn’t planning to watch it thinking "just your another animation movie with nothing new to boast about".

But after seeing those fairly good reviews… well, there I was in the cinema… LAUGHING. There were the usual jokes but some original and the main thing was… it was funny! *pushing steph*
I swore if the jokes lasted awhile longer every time, I would have pushed steph off her chair, but it didn’t matter anyway cause it was so funny! =D Plus, I almost tear-ed at the ending and I wanted to sing along with them! LOL

Comparing it to other movie animations period, this makes the top and one of the best in originality as well as humor.

Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who definitely should be boasted about.

The follow up from KU:

_______________________________________________________________

Dear Mr. Quah:

I just wanted to express my gratitude to the students in your class who took on my University of Kansas visit as their marketing project. While the young woman on the team had to leave before I had a chance to sit down with the group and talk, I had a wonderful and inspiring conversation with Arun, Shawn, Wong Chi, Wong Fu, and Edric. They truly did a wonderful job with their posters, institutional research, contacting a Malaysian student at KU to get a testimonial from a "real" enrolled international student at our institution, etc.

Furthermore, they were at the office to greet me, make me feel welcome, and in general, brought an energy to the room and to the event that was unparalleled in my three weeks on the road. I was truly blown away by their efforts, their enthusiasm, the extent of their market research, their follow-through, and their involved and caring approach. In terms of the group dynamic, I might also add that each student participated in my visit equally, both pounding the campus pavement to bring in students to meet with me, and to make sure my visit was a successful one. I have no doubt that the overwhelming response I received (I stayed for nearly two extra hours) was due to their efforts.

Best Wishes and congratulations on inspiring such a wonderful group of students. They have clearly taken your lessons to heart and are learning how to apply their classroom knowledge in the "real" world quite adeptly. I will remember my visit to HELP with great fondness.

Sincerely,
Charles A.S. Bankart
Assistant Vice Provost for International Programs
University of Kansas

We... or maybe me got hater.

Been deadbusy the entire week!

Last Wednesday was Rock Chalk, Jayhawk KU!

FINALLY Project Kansas University” has come to pass! With strict time constrains and cluttered planning against us, it was a fight we had to take tactically, oh no… nothing was gonna stop us anyway. We had our shares of s**t shoved right back up our behinds, with words of discouragement , slight humiliation of “amateur” and “unprofessional” work done. But I couldn’t help but agreed more, we had our flaws, big flaws and mistakes, but we definitely went round them, pushing through and not letting anyone pull us down further.

We had everything on the line, our built reputation of good work and lecturer's higher expectation from us (pfft …no freaking pressure here). All our work to waste? It sure felt like that. Then, people started noticing… us and our ads, it was definitely a relief… but everything depended on that day itself, we did everything we could.

Then here came "KU Day”, no one was expected to show up, there were 2 other very important talks on that very moment that day. To our surprise, people started showing up and damn did it go better than expected, Mr. Charles Bankart (Ass. Vice Provost of KU) was only suppose to stay from 12 to 2pm, ended up staying till 4pm and the least we could do was made him feel as welcome and comfortable as possible.

Aside from all that, it seems we (or maybe just me) have haters.

Posters on the first day itself of us were torn down,
Janitor clean-ups? Maybe.
Happened again the following day,
Coincidence? Maybe.
It finally stopped when we bombarded the Block with our posters. Ok... Coincidence, definitely Maybe.

Then, when everything just started to go fine, one of our posters got poked-thru… unfortunately, it was my face =/

Friends said someone hates me, but I think someone hates us, poked our poster, my face happened to be the target.
Coincidence? Hmm... maybe i guess =/

but i'm not too paranoid either...

OH WELL, big big big sacrifices must be made anyway, the day was a success beyond our expectations. =D

27 Dresses

Ok, the movie is a lil predictable… but weird how it kept one step ahead of me the entire time! The one thing I like though is their ability to bombard you with so many familiar (but yet very entertaining)
love
contrasts all in one movie time frame. And I have to say, I really liked it… a lot! If it kept running for awhile more, I would end up in tears! lol. Somehow, that movie found itself somewhere inside me.

I really enjoyed it =)
