Wanted to Unwanted

The much anticipated movie that I and probably every other guy’s been waiting for… is to me, jaw dropping… but for the wrong reasons.

“Cool” factors in this movie are overly exaggerated with obnoxious action, and the failure to bond with the main character leaves this movie feeling shallow. Attempts to apply logic into all of this will drive you insane!
(thought the Matrix wasn't possible? Neo, you just met your match!)

Sure when it comes to Action + Angelina Jolie… who needs a good script anyway? or even any action? lol. But nevertheless, the cinematic experience was awesome.

Forget the script, forget the movie,
The only thing wanted, is Angelina Jolie.

(omg it rhymes… poetry here I come!)

*mega drools* she saved the movie!

RIP George Carlin

George Carline passed away a few days ago with sudden heart failure. Here’s a remembrance to him.

His serious comedy, “black humor” and the way he shoots real time issues with bullets of humor like no other… is something I will personally miss.

ENVY Magazine

This is quite a late post but anyway…
Got an invite to the ENVY launch party held at Maison with only one drive behind… invited as VIP with free-flow!(yay) But due to the getting there much later… VIPs that packed the upstairs like sardines in a can dried up the free flow fast. The main event was a fashion show though there wasn’t anything to be awed about.

taken with only a 3mp cam

What really awed me on the other hand was when I heard & saw a very familiar person being introduced to the DJ stand to spin. Taufiq? DJ…? DJ Taufiq? (might be the wrong spelling thou). A friend/co-worker I knew that was seemingly very quiet and conserve the entire time that I knew him by was now fist-beating the air and head banging to his spinning music? Hard one to register.

Taufiq a DJ?

_____

Met one of the youngest model
from the magazine there too…
Juria Hartmans, 17 years old.

Overall was quite a night, met few I knew… did lame poses for the camera with envy stickers pasted everywhere on our body taken particularly at the (I would say) “red carpet area with the very essential sheet behind with ENVY logos that felt so celebrity-ish lol.

Unfortunately, it was taken with the camera of strangers… only thing to hope for is that it comes out on the next issue of Envy.

for the road.

I’m all about gasoline these days and word on the street is there’ll be another price hike, to how far that is true… I’m not sure but don’t be surprised if it does happen cause anything boleh in Malaysia.

Just thought I’d share with you some tips on how to get the most out of your value of gas. This was a circulating email I got some time ago that I have put into practice that “seems” to work for me, (had some fairly noticeable difference in my petrol volume) but again, it could be the whole placebo effect thingy… but whatever works right?

This was allegedly written by a person who has worked with petroleum at Kinder Morgan Pipeline in San Jose, CA for about 31 years…and forget the history, here’s the tips.

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS.

1) Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold.Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

2) When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

3) One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Try these and you be your own judge, you got nothing to lose.
(btw, i didnt mean stucking the hose up your ass)

Who Killed the Electric Car?

Have you ever wondered why are the only cars we drive run on oil?

Where’s the electric or hydrogen fueled cars? It only seems that in the recent years that they have started emerging… but at a peculiarly slow rate. The inevitable death of gasoline was obviously foreseen ages ago, could it be that automobile titans have not have notice the vast goldmine that the predestine future of cars has to offer?

Or is there more to the story than what meets the eye?

In fact there was once an option sometime ago in 1997 of a car of zero emission and of zero gasoline: The EV1 electric car by General Motors. They started appearing throughout California but within a few years time, it vanished.

But why?

Was there a conspiracy on the side of big oil companies to destroy development of the electric vehicles?

GM presented the EV1 to consumers only under a lease program that had to be returned sooner or later. But lessee of the car and celebrities loved the EV1, they were the plug-in kind, worked exactly like a normal car would, fast, looked great, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective.

But in late 2003, GM officially canceled the EV1 program.

It was so loved, that consumers of the EV1 staged a mock funeral for their beloved departed car.

Despite the waiting lists, positive feedback and offers to buy from lesser, GM refused to produce anymore stating that they could not sell enough cars to make the EV1 profitable. Adding to that was the order to shred of all of these cars (new & old) even after numerous promises to reuses the cars. Shred? why?

Majority of them were stripped then crushed and only some deactivated EV1s were kept for University and showrooms but under the agreement never to reactivate them.

Was society unprepared for the future of cars?

This was based on the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?" which unfortunately i have not watch.

The Conspiracy Theory

Car companies have been selling the internal combustion engine since forever. It provides the need for regular fixes, repairs and covers a wide margin. The electric car on the other hand challenges that with minimal maintenance due to the fact it doesn’t have an internal combustion engine that is linked to other parts like carburetors, air filters, transmission etc.

Thus, this threatens the whole fundamental business structure of car companies by wiping away large amount of sales in maintenance services and replacement parts… Do you really think that car companies want to create the perfect car? Planned obsolescence plays a part.

There’s another point to this, the electric car doesn’t need oil. This instantaneously quavers two dominant titans, the car company itself and the oil industry. It would be obvious to eliminate anything that threatens your place on the top, thus a very clear cut reason for oil companies to have opposed an electric infrastructure.

There’s no question that people who control the market place (the oil companies) have a strong incentive to discourage alternatives, except for the alternative that they themselves control."

Pump up?

The new price for petrol from the current RM1.92 to RM2.70 per litre will be effective by midnight tonight, a 40% increase. Cars packing petrol stations nation-wide will probably be the headline of every newspaper tomorrow, unless of course this issues is already common to us.

But it has never really struck me hard enough to deliberately go out to pump my last tank of petrol before a price spike, never really bother to anyway.

Gas station hub near my area: Mobil, Shell and Petronas

continuation of the queue from picture one...

Mobil decides to close.

Well, all for the right reasons don’t you think?
Cause, is it really worth all your trouble and effort to queue those mile-long lines, waiting in the car long enough till words like 'regret' stroll across your mind over and over again?

And if you did manage to endure the brawl of thirsty cars… you emerge out slowly from that station with so much sense of achievement that you wind down the window and smile, while others in line watch in envy as you drive away (slowly...) with your now completely full tank of yesterday's petrol price!

Give yourself a pat on the back my friend… you deserve it :)

Whhhaeeeaatt? For real? NO.

How much can you get out from that last full tank of petrol? Considering a short-term value?
(maybe... but it's not long enough to even call it short!)

It’s just a spur of the moment that drives panic into everyone. If they were giving free flows of petrol or that gasoline has officially vanish from the earth… that would be a different story.

The Biggest Event in Malaysia’s History!

MTV ASIA AWARDS 08

IS COMING TO MALAYSIA!

"M" IS BACK AND BETTER.

As uncontrollably hype I am about this iconic monumental event coming to Malaysian soil, the event that I have been dreaming of all my childhood + teenage years combined to come to pass and ever since I laid my eyes on the ultimate, mesmerizing, brainwashing channel: MTV … unfortunately I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT for this dream-come-true-once-in-a-lifetime-event.

Cause I’ll be in Australia bumming around places... But look at the bigger picture Shawn… it’s only a day’s event compared to the (hopefully) life changing experiences I’m gonna get being over there =)

And NOW, I just pray hard that minimal amount of international celebrities will be coming for this, so that I won’t miss out on much of course… hehehe.

Cheers people.

BTW Jared Leto, actor and lead vocalist of the band '30 Seconds to Mars' will be hosting the show! Who knew, totally unexpected.
