May you?

I just saw this weird campaign from OGAWA where the promoters were wearing T-shirts on the front asking:
"May I Come Closer?"


and the back saying:

"OGAWA, Closer to you."


WHAT ON EARTH!? Imagine someone random goes up asking you:


Promoter: “Sir, may I come closer?”

You: "Hey yea sure, why not? Let’s get comfortable and rub shoulders, while you’re at it, why don’t you give me a full body massage? You’ll like that don’t you? Is that close enough? Mmm…!"


Yea I know… trying to bond and get connected with your consumers, capturing brand loyalty while emitting a sense of love and proximity… but “May I Come Closer?”? COME ON…

THAT’S JUST THE MOST DISTURBING THING I’VE READ IN A CAMPAIGN EVER!

Whoever came out with that tagline has my serious condolence.

Then again, this might be exactly what OGAWA wants, coming up with a damn cheesy tagline so that people will talk about it, remembering the brand, smart move though I must say... but probably wasn’t intended =)
