Sheesh...

_
Who knew finding internship opportunities could be quite a-big-damn-hassle to do! Especially when it comes with some bad luck and a few series of unfortunate events. My field (marketing) I would believe is slightly more of a challenge compared to other fields.

I’m just saying… it’s hard when the people looking for marketing interns/fresh grads are mostly made of Multi Level Marketing (MLM) companies, a somewhat ‘legal’ pyramid scheme some may call it.

Do I have a problem with them?
I think so, however this is a personal view.

For one, they are ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ so to speak, a hoax that is hidden beneath misleading slogans. In short, they tell tales of lavish prospective, promotions and exaggerated income claims preying mostly on the ‘high energetic money worshippers’ of any age, the inexperience, greenest of graduates and them who want to take shortcuts. Many are led to believe that success will come to anyone who believes in the system and adheres to its methods.

They claim that these positions are for leader only, looking for people with the fire to earn big bucks, professional, goal orientated with good interpersonal skills, hard workers and other combinations of inspiring words that the English dictionary can throw at you. Pure brainwash.

The unspoken truth here is, their job scope is DIRECT SELLING… a fact that they try to evade time and time again or at least try decorating with fancy glorified words. The other half truth of this is, you’ll just be the slave, exploited to sells the cakes for them while the people upstairs get full benefit of this.

So, are they a scam? Have they done something illegal? No per se… however they take advantage of the law by running along the grey border lines of unethical business principles and legality. Therefore, no law can find them guilty.

With all that has been said, some people will still find it suitable for jobs. I shall not be bias towards the people who choose these paths. You dictate the life you want to live... people can only learn from companies like these, one way or another.

Siding on them, the training that they give may actually be valuable, throwing yourself into the pool of rejection will no doubt build your character up, make you persevere harder, and make you a stronger person all round. Knowing that you can take rejection but never be discourage by it... is kinda cool.

does this mean you're considering doing an internship in a MLM company?

have you thought about doing something else rather than getting involved in marketing, to widen your exposure?

you sound like my mom.

Nah, definitely not... though my aunt said it could be beneficial in someway from the experience you get as long as you don't get brainwashed. I'll leave that as a last last last last resort.

Yeah, any field related to business... Admin, management etc.
I'm keeping my options open
